Q-mmunity – Katie Parry in Fleisher Wind Challenge

Spiral Q Artist in the Powel School Project, Katie Parry is one of the three artists
in this Spring’s Fleisher Wind Challenge, opening this Friday. We’re excited to
see her work in tomorrow evening’s opening reception!

Fleisher’s Wind Challenge Opening Reception
Friday March 28th – 6:00 to 8:00 p.m
719 Catharine Street · Philadelphia

Established in 1978, the Wind Challenge Exhibition Series is an annual juried
competition that is committed to enriching and expanding people’s lives through
art. Three Wind Challenge Exhibitions are held from September through May,
featuring the work of exceptional artists living in the Philadelphia region.

Katie Parry sees art as a signpost in a place that cannot be mapped. While the materials and processes she uses depends on the project, there are constants like transparency, light, ephemeral scraps, and hand-drawn images. For the past several years, Parry has been mostly making animations though she is trying to reimagine the miniature worlds she has created as large-scale environments made of light and a weave of many transparent layers.

Spread Spiral Q Joy with Puppet Fostering Program

Feature a puppet in your office or other open space, and help share their story with the world.

At Spiral Q, each puppet has a story. Take Esther. Before she was a foster puppet, Esther marched loud and proud in the first ever Philly Dyke March. (She loves marching in parades and has featured in many parades since!) Now, she is returning home from a two month foster stay at Painted Bride Arts Center and is already looking for her marching shoes.

These limited engagements help these puppets continue to make a difference while bringing color and life to your world. (And they’re dying for a chance to stretch their legs).

We house puppets and artwork of all shapes and sizes, both freestanding and hang-able. With thousands of pieces of artwork in our collection dating back nearly two decades, there is guaranteed to be a puppet perfect for your space and your organization.

Contact Tracy at community(at) and find out which puppet is right for you.
